There is genuinely something so comforting about the Dream Harbor series. Are they flawless? No. But they absolutely make you just so happy to be reading them.
With each new book in the series we get to read about a new couple. Usually they are hinted at in the previous books, but then we get to read their full story. Everyone in this town is very close and also (just a bit) quirky. The connections to Gilmore Girls are definitely there in terms of the town characters and charm. But just… with a bit more spice!
In The Daisy Chain Flower Shop we follow the story of Daisy and Elliot. Daisy is a Dream Harbor resident who moved back to town after a failed relationship. She runs The Daisy Chain Flower Shop, the local florists. Due to Daisy’s past relationships and a string of unfortunate events, the town has come to believe that her flower shop is cursed. It’s all a bit silly and far fetched, but that’s Dream Harbor!
Elliot is an architect and history nerd who moved to town after his divorce. He is shy, wears glasses, and loves dogs. He’s basically the perfect man. Absolutely realistic. Definitely not just a cookie cutter male figure that you can’t help swooning for. Oh wait… this is the Dream Harbor series. Things are unrealistic here. But we don’t care, because these books are just so fun and happy to read.
Honestly, I had the best time reading this book. Yes, there are some elements that are ridiculous. Yes, it is a bit repetitive at times. But honestly, I don’t care. These books are just so cosy and sweet and comforting, and sometimes that’s really all that matters.
